The challenge behind all of this continues to be where to find top talent.  Where does Frazee look for its IT professionals?  Our candidates come from various resources including internet recruiting, traditional print advertising and networking.   Networking has been critical to our success.  We haveworked hard to build relationships in the IT community over the years and we are committed to maintaining them.  Additionally, word gets out among the IT community as to who has the best jobs and which are the best companies to work for.

Frazee’s clients include internet security firms, equipment distributors, insurance and consulting firms. One of Frazee’s top clients, Dayle Alsbury, of TraceSecurity, a Baton Rouge based IT Security Firm, says this about IT staffing in this region: "Competition for labor in the Baton Rouge IT market has risen steadily since Hurricane Katrina.  We are seeing IT market ripple effects such as compensation scale dynamics, tightening labor pools, the drive to shorten time to market, and more aggressive employer recruiting efforts.  These changes have stimulated us to offer more creative benefits, develop training and professional growth mentors, and globalize/distribute our work force."   Companies willing to pay competitive salaries and offer good benefits as well as relocation packages will allow them to attract “the best and the brightest.”

Will the Baton Rouge labor market continue to support this growth?  It depends on the commitment of our business and political leaders to attract technology related jobs to the area.  Quality of life issues, a good educational system, and cost of living are also key to attracting IT talent from outside the area.  Many of our candidates live in other parts of the country and have a sincere desire to come home to Louisiana to work in their chosen field.  We have to be able to attract them back and it’s going to require effort to do that.

It’s refreshing to see this growth of technology related jobs in Louisiana, particularly in the Baton Rouge area. It’s exactly what we need to put this state on the map again!
