Safety Specialist - Baton Rouge, LA

A Safety Specialist is needed for a Baton Rouge Corporation! This position will assist the EHS Director in daily activities in environmental, health, and safety. The Safety Specialist will maintain MSDS files and audit information, conduct orientations, conduct various monitoring on a quarterly/weekly/daily basis to ensure all employees/ contractors/ environment meets all regulations. The ideal candidate has approximately 6 months of safety experience/training. This position is full time, Monday through Friday, from 7-4pm, with some flexibility on hours.

Education Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Certifications: CPR/ First Aid certification required. EMT Basic Certification preferred, or willingness to earn certification.

Experience: Minimum of 6 months of related work experience in Safety required (with the ability and desire to learn Environmental).

Additional Requirements: Must be proficient in the entire Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access). Typing speed of 35 wpm or higher. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Good planning and cognitive abilities required. Good analytical and measuring skills required.

Type Of Position: Temp to Hire

Salary: $18-20.00 per hour, DOE
